It’s the end already

I can’t believe the end of the semester is here already. I’m not going to know what to do with myself. It has been a busy semester not the easiest. I must say I have learned a lot from this class. It may have been challenging but I must say I have enjoyed it. I was scared once I heard about the first project and having to do some drawings. Something I have never done before and I actually was amazed I was able to do it. At the time it seems like I’ll never be able to do it and then I find I was able to do it. I found each project to be a challenge but I must say I have learned a lot and I’m glad I had the exposure to the different programs and some of them I would like to continue working with. Thanks to all for sharing all your projects and critiquing my work to help me improve. It’s been fun and good luck to everyone in the future. Have a safe and happy new year.

Oh no not again

-->
Well today I was watching the Redskin game. This is the first full game I have watched in a long time. I haven’t had the time to sit and enjoy a game of any kind for a while. Well needless to say this is not my teams’ year. I thought we had a chance today until we missed the field goal. I felt it in my bones when I saw we had 2 minutes left in the game. The last three weeks it seems to be the same thing that happens. In the last couple of minutes of the game we can’t close it out. It happened again today. That is okay though I think they are starting to play better each game. We have been in the game until the end and it has not been a blowout. Sometimes I think it would be easier if it wasn’t so much. Well at least one of my teams did well this year. Yes I’m a Yankee fan and I was glad that they were able to pull it off this year, getting their 27th ring. I know not many people around this area feel the same way.
I was able to see one of my favorite players a couple of months ago at Rams Head. Yes I went and saw Bernie Williams. He is really talented guitar player. He put on a great show. He plays Latin jazz. I was surprised that his whole band was able to fit on the stage. This was such a fun show. The whole entire band was good and to watch them perform was fun. They were great with the crowd and you could tell they were having a great time up there. His new album is so smooth. It is great music for playing while working on projects. I was able to get some photos of him. Below is one of the ones I took. It was a great evening. Even if you aren’t a Yankee fan if you like jazz music I would recommend giving him a listening to.

Missed Opportunity

I can’t believe that tonight I didn’t have my camera. I had gone down to southern Maryland and was on my way back home and the snow was beautiful. I love the snow and as I was riding in the car it was so neat watching the snow just attacking the windshield. It was then that I wish I had the camera, how interesting would that be to have a picture of the snow coming towards the windshield. I have always loved that feeling. It make the snow look like it is coming down much faster then it truly is. The thing is it has to be night driving to get the right feeling. After thinking of what that photo would look like I pulled into a parking lot and it happen to be selling Christmas trees. There were not many cars around and all the trees were lit up and the snow falling it reminded me a something you would see in a movie. Well live and learn. Next time I will make sure I take my camera when I go out. You never know when something will come up and you can capture a moment in time.

SketchUp

I have to say SketchUp has been a fun program to learn. I have found it very interesting. I selected a few objects to draw, which for me drawing is a challenge yet alone in 3D. I didn’t know I could do before taking this class. I’m not saying they are good but for a beginner not bad. I picked a bench, trash can and ashtray. I figured they would be simple enough but still a challenge for me. Well I started with the trash can not to hard right. Well I got the bottom and the top was a challenge and many hours later the closest I could come to my drawing. I was able to get the ashtray done not hard. Then the bench came. I can’t tell you how many versions I went through to get it to look like my drawing. I would go and cut in and then I would lose pieces of the chair. I had no clue how it happened. I would just shake my head and go back to where it looked correct than save it as a different version. By this time just the challenge was getting me. I really got into this program. My mistakes just made me want to try even more. That move tool is something else. I know one night I played with it for more than 4 hours. I would get one thing to work and had no idea how I did it. The more I was working with it the more I wanted to create. With that said came the idea for a gazebo. I did have fun with it, I think I may have approached it in a harder way then maybe I should have but I had a great time doing it. I know I will continue to work with this program. I never would have seen myself interested in doing this before. Below is my gazebo that I did.

Film

That new TV station I found Ovation TV has film 101 this weekend. It seems as though it is starting to cover the things we have been covering in class. It is too bad that I just discovered this channel. It seems to have a lot to do with the arts. It doesn’t seem to be a specific art which is nice to get a variety to choose from. I started watching some of the shows I taped on photography and I could have used some for the project I did on the history of photography. It was interesting to see how some of the cameras that were used a long time ago some photographers were using some very similar. Some of the cameras that were being used looked like they had been around for 100 years. I did find a interesting book on photography which is written as a textbook. Each chapter is a tutorial and at the end there are exercises to try to put into practice what has been explained. I think I’m going to end up buying it. It is called Digital Photography Masterclass by Tom Ang.
